Public Lecture:

First Public Lecture: The First Public Public Lecture under the project ‘Cities, Rural Migrants and the Urban Poor – Issues of Violence and Social Justice’ was held on July 31, 2014, at the University of Calcutta. It was delivered by Simpreet Singh, an eminent social activist and researcher from Mumbai. The title of his lecture was ‘The politics of the civil society and the civility of the political society’.

Second Public Lecture: The Second Public Public Lecture under the project was held on August 20, 2015, at the Rabindra Bharati University. It was delivered by D. M. Diwakar, Director, A. N. Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna. The title of his lecture was ‘Migration and Social Change in Bihar’.

Third Public Lecture: The Third Public Public Lecture under the project was held on August 23, 2017, at the Swabhumi-The Heritage Plaza. It was delivered by Subir Sinha, SQAS, London. The title of his lecture was ‘Separation, Mobility and the Ordinary City: On Migrants’ Subjection and Subjectivity’.

Research Workshop:

First Research Workshop: The First Research Workshop for the project took place in Kolkata on August 1 and 2, 2014. The researchers associated with the project from various parts of the country presented their abstracts and plans of research during the workshop. Second Research Workshop: The Second Research Workshop for the project took place in Kolkata on August 21 and 22, 2014 where the participants presented their findings accumulated in the last one year of research. Report Release:
